BUFFALO, NEW YORK — OtherWisz Creative Corporation is pleased to announce three website redesign projects they developed for local not-for-profits including: Heart of The City, Peace of the City and Configuration Dance Theatre. Their websites can be found at www.Hocn.org, www.PeaceoftheCity.org and www.ConfigurationDanceTheatre.org.

“Our non-profit clients now have the tools to market themselves online better. They can update their own websites with their latest news, upcoming events as well as perform general content edits and upkeep,” stated Mark Wisz. “In the past, these organizations had to rely on others to maintain their websites. By now gaining control of their websites in-house – using our well organized site designs and open source Content Management System (CMS) – our clients can easily keep their websites fresh and relevant.”

“If a client is willing to make an investment up front with a custom website design, their ongoing maintenance costs can be almost non-existent throughout the year,” added Jill Wisz, “When they had to pay for every little change to their website, these non-profits often decided not to make the changes. Eventually their websites become out-dated and useless as poor marketing tools.”

Heart of the City Neighborhoods, Inc. is a not-for-profit community development corporation that exists to create, facilitate and support housing and neighborhood development in Buffalo’s Lower West Side. Peace of the City is a local Ministry that offer a range of relevant programs designed to provide young people with the skills, tools and values needed to succeed educationally, break the cycle of poverty, and lead meaningful, productive lives. Established in 2000, Configuration Dance Theatre is a unique, contemporary ballet company whose dynamic programs are performed in a variety of theaters and venues locally and across the country.

OtherWisz Creative Corporation is an award-winning, comprehensive graphic design and advertising firm, located at 252 Lexington Avenue, Buffalo, New York. With over 20 years experience in graphic design, the firm specializes in website packages and identity design for local and national companies. Clients include Jack Hunt Coin Broker, United Way, Boston Valley Terra Cotta, Independent Nursing Care, Rigidized Metals, Kenmore Development and the Buffalo Sabres.

A unique company requires a memorable business card. The Boston Valley Terra Cotta card needed to illustrate their product’s innovative craftsmanship. The deep-colored, textural paper reflects the premium materiality and through-body color of terra cotta, metallic ink to evoke the sheen of their custom glaze finishes. Combined with a detailed, multi-level emboss of their logomark, these cards are a tactile representation of their architectural terra cotta product. OtherWisz Creative designed coordinating letterhead and envelopes to complete the business stationary package.

The Famri website was designed and developed for the non-profit Roswell Park Cancer Institute, America’s first cancer center located in Buffalo, New York. This health study website was developed specifically for the Flight Attendant Medical Research Institute (FAMRI) program and is used to deliver information and health resources to flight attendants, especially for those who were exposed to second-hand tobacco smoke on airlines. The website was built using Wordress as it’s basic Content Management System (CMS) allowing complete control by the Roswell Park staff. A custom Library Database System allows the client to build and catalog a database of useful articles targeted to flight attendants and their families.

The Financial Independent Newspaper was designed and developed for United Way of Buffalo and Erie County and is being to used to provide an introduction to personal finance and assist individuals with basic income tax preparation. Targeted to lower and middle income families in Erie County, this informational brochure was formatted to the size & specs of an actual 4-page newspaper. To assist this non-profit with their tight budget, the newspaper included an insert sheet that could be updated and reprinted extending the life of the overall piece. OtherWisz Creative provided the initial concept, copywriting, stock photo sourcing, layout and design, editing and final pre-press services.

After OtherWisz Creative assisted Boston Valley Terra Cotta with re-branding their company, we worked to introduce this new brand to their targeted audience of architects world-wide through advertising. The first glimpse of the BVTC brand appeared with ads in trade magazines that followed a solid set of established brand guidelines created by the OtherWisz team. Each ad includes a BVTC signature project – chosen regionally for the market of each publication – which highlights their architectural terracotta product in use.

By managing the BVTC brand and keeping control of all brand touchpoints, such as these advertisements, we have helped to build a strong visual impression for BVTC.

The word ‘brand’ has become quite a buzz word; being tossed around a lot by marketing folks. But what exactly is your company’s ‘brand?’ Your company’s visual identity – your logo – is only a part of your company’s brand. A well-built brand connects, supports, and strengthens your company image with your logo. A brand is more than colors and font styles associated with your printed marketing materials. Your brand is how you provide your service or product to your customer. Your brand is expressed in the way you answer your phones, format your correspondence, the clothing or uniform your wear – it extends to how you interact with your customer. Your brand is your company message – visually and verbally – at every point of contact a person has with your company.

A strong brand includes a set of rules, standards and visuals that must be followed to keep a uniformed, organized and professional image. Think of all the strong brands you know. What comes to mind first? Disney, McDonalds, FedEx, how about the U.S. Government? By controlling and monitoring all aspects of your company you can control your brand, strengthen it.

A company looking to change their image may undergo a ‘brand makeover’- which doesn’t happen overnight. Brand development should never be treated as a project with a beginning and an end – branding your company is an ongoing process.

“Branding is believing in the quality of your product or service and getting your whole company behind it. Your brand is the manner in which you conduct your business.”

Brand development consists of 4 main aspects:

Initial Strategy/ Brand Audit

This is the research and planning that takes into account understanding every aspect of your business, your marketplace and your customers. We use these insights to formulating a plan for the future.

Overall Identity

This is the outward expression of your company – your brand identity. It is important to think about all connections between your company and the outside world. Your company identity is an impression based on graphics, interaction and perceptions.

Ongoing Management

Keeping it all together. This can consist of a guidebook – a set of rules – that governs the company’s brand and image. Management includes meetings with employees and customers regularly to gauge their thoughts and impressions on your company.

Complete Experience

You must continue to monitor and control all connections between your customers and your company. You must make sure your customers are getting a positive experience from working with your company. Every new project that comes up from this point must adhere to strict brand guidelines.

Re-branding is more that designing a new logo or a new brochure. It is a a complete experience based on research, analyzing, possible repositioning, and continual management as the brand is strengthened over time. It is important that you control the perception of your company by the outside word including vendors, customers, partners, and even your competition.
