The Core of The OW Team
Mark Wisz – Owner/Designer
As graduate of Buffalo State College with over 23 years experience in the design profession, 12 of which focused on internet development, Mark Wisz was an early proponent of pursuing Internet communications as a valuable marketing tool. Those years in the design trenches included publishing the independent, local street ‘zines Sign O’ The Times and Slack magazine. He developed his skills at a number of graphic design and web design firms all while cultivating a substantial freelance business with the idea of eventually forming his own company.
After working for a number of technology companies that did not survive during the dotcom bust, Mark parlayed his successful freelance career into the establishment of his own firm. In 2000, drawing on his thirteen years of experience in pre-press, graphic design, independent publishing and web design as an in-house art director, Mark opened OtherWisz as a full service graphics and web design company with the NHL hockey team the Buffalo Sabres as his first client.
It is Mark’s creativity, experience and vast knowledge of design production that provides OtherWisz Creative with the balance to successfully design big solutions. His abilities to forecast development issues and develop successful design standards are useful in his role as Art Director and Production Manager.
Jill Wisz – Owner/Designer
Known for her attention to detail, Jill has been exploring environmental design solutions for over twenty years. A degree in Interior Design from Buffalo State College led to pursuing a Masters of Architecture from the University at Buffalo. While employed with Robert Traynham Coles, Architect P.C, Jill was a part of the design team that designed and developed the $4 million Buffalo and Erie County Frank E. Merriweather Library. Jill’s experience in installation design and architecture was gained at Hadley Exhibits, creating exhibits for national trade shows, visitor centers, museums and zoos. Her designs include a freestanding panel system for Buffalo Niagara International Airport lounge and the development of a prototype security gate system for use in the Miami International Airport with client ADT.
Currently teaching part-time in the Interior Design Department at Villa Maria College, Jill’s Design Portfolio class instructs junior level students how to prepare their portfolio — a necessity to market themselves in today’s challenging economy. As Creative Director, Jill’s role at OtherWisz Creative is primarily in the investigative, research and development stages of marketing solutions. A solutions designer, Jill Wisz enjoys the investigative nature of design, putting the problem solving techniques of her architectural studies to use exploring the creative nature of usability and design process.
